Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)

Location: Coon Rapids, Minnesota
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Shift: 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM, 10-hour shifts, 40 hours per week
• Caseload: Approximately 15 patients per day
• Weekend Requirement: Work every third weekend
• On-Call: Yes, as needed with a response time within 30 minutes
• Floating: Required to float to sister facility (Mercy Hospital - Unity campus) as needed
• Block Schedule: Not accommodated
• Locals Accepted: Yes
• Pending State License Accepted: Yes
• Return to Office Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days

Experience & Requirements

• Specialty: Cath Lab Tech (X-ray Tech)
• Years of Experience Required: Minimum 2 years working in the cath lab as an X-ray Tech
• First-Timers: Not accepted
• Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
• Special Skills:

  • Scrub stenting and driving the table
  • Coronary angiograms, peripheral angiograms
  • Diagnostic and interventional angiograms, right and left heart caths
  • ASD and PFO closures, Impella, EKOS, rota-pro, atherectomy
  • Stents, PFO, ASD, atherectomy, EKOS, CSI, rotablade
• Equipment Experience Required: C-Arm Operations
• Preferred Equipment Experience: GE and Phillips, Siemens, MedRad, Excellian, GE Mac Lab, Q-Site, Synapse
• Scrub Experience: Required

Certifications & Licenses

• Required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
• Preferred:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • ARRT Advanced Certification
• State License: Must have or be eligible for Minnesota state license

Background & Compliance Requirements

• Criminal background check within 1 year of start (7-year standard MN statewide search)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 1 year
• Diploma or transcripts verification as applicable
• Minnesota DHS Net Study Fingerprint clearance required before start (no fingerprints pending allowed)
• Physical exam within 12 months prior to start
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • Adult Tdap (no declinations accepted without exemption approval)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer required
  • Hepatitis B immunity or vaccination series
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination series
  • Seasonal flu vaccination documentation required for 2025-26 season (declinations accepted)
• OSHA Respiratory Safety clearance required prior to start (RespSafety virtual questionnaire)

Additional Requirements

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required
• Annual Skills Checklist required
• Completion of facility-specific preorientation modules within 72 hours of receiving login (3-9 hours depending on specialty)
• Passport-style photo for badge required within 48 hours of contract signing
• Must comply with Allina Health uniform guidelines

Notes

• Candidate may be canceled up to 3 shifts without penalty; on-call hours do not count toward guaranteed hours
• Candidates must be able to respond to on-call within 30 minutes
• Floating to sister facility required; no floating outside scope of practice
• Candidates with latex allergy should be aware the facility is latex-free

This position is ideal for experienced Cath Lab Techs with strong scrub and interventional skills, comfortable with a teaching hospital environment and flexible scheduling including weekends and on-call duties.
