Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Work Schedule & Environment

  • 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (Day Shift)
  • Weekends required
  • Floating between campuses may be required
  • No patient ratio applicable
  • Equipment used includes GE Ventilators
  • No Return to Office (RTO) from 2/22 to 2/28

Experience Requirements

  • Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
  • Required Years of Experience: Not explicitly stated; default to typical for RRT roles (usually 1+ years)
  • Prior Travel Experience: Preferred (not strictly required, but candidates with previous travel experience are favored)

Certifications & Licensure

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification preferred
  • High School Diploma and College Diploma or official transcripts from a Respiratory Therapy program required (unofficial transcripts not accepted)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications may be required depending on unit
  • State license verification required within 30 days of start
  • Fingerprinting (Ohio BCI & FBI) required within 1 year of start, with specific code and process for completion
  • Other certifications may be required based on unit assignment (e.g., PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification)

Background & Compliance

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including SS trace, counties lived/worked, nationwide check, sex offender registry, and motor vehicle record if driving is part of the job
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring required
  • Education accreditation verification required immediately after contract signing
  • Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending at start
  • Facility-specific compliance forms and policies must be reviewed and signed annually

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year of start; TB questionnaire required annually
  • Immunizations required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer, medical exemptions reviewed)
    • Hepatitis B (titer or 3-vaccine series, declination acceptable)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
  • COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended

Drug Testing

  • Negative 10-panel drug screen required within 3 months of start
  • New travelers cannot start with drug screen pending

Additional Requirements

  • 2 professional references required; at least one must be from a manager/director or formal leadership
  • Employment application and skills checklist required
  • Unit-specific competency exams may be required, including medication/pharmacology and dysrhythmia/EKG competency exams
