Description

Job Opportunity: Pediatric PACU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Seattle, Washington
Specialty: Registered Nurse - Radiology Recovery / Pediatric PACU

Contract Length: 15 weeks (interpreted from 15)


Position Details

  • Shift: Day shift with self-scheduling flexibility. Start times typically 0700 or 0800 with on-call responsibilities. Weekend shifts start at 0730 with on-call at the end of the shift.
  • Experience Required: Minimum 1 year of RN experience (highest requirement found).
  • First-time Travelers: Accepted.
  • Weekend Requirement: Yes, weekend shifts with on-call.
  • On-call: Required as described above.
  • Block Scheduling: Not accommodated.
  • Locals Accepted: Yes, no radius restrictions.
  • Pending License: Accepted.
  • Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: No RTO within the first two weeks due to orientation.
  • Guaranteed Hours: Yes.
  • Special Skills Required:
    • Skilled in Peripheral IV (PIV) placement and port accessing.
    • Urinary catheterization skills preferred.

Licensure & Certifications

  • Licenses:

    • RN Compact License valid in Washington required.
    • Candidates using a compact license from other states must complete WA-specific suicide prevention training and update demographic info in NURSYS E-Notify.
  • Required Certifications:

    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA Provider only, instructor cards not accepted.
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA Provider only, instructor cards not accepted.
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA Provider only, instructor cards not accepted (required for Air Lift candidates).
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Not required for NICU RNs.
    • CHEMO certification through APHON if applicable.
  • Additional Notes:

    • PEARS is not acceptable in lieu of PALS.
    • Certification renewals must be promptly uploaded and communicated to the appropriate team.

Competency Exams & Skills

  • Competency Exams:

    • Required to pass Pediatric competency exams relevant to the unit.
    • Radiology Recovery RN candidates must complete PACU and Pediatrics competency exams.
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for certain units; not specifically stated for this role but important for related pediatric critical care roles.

    • Required pediatric skills checklist and unit-specific skills checklist.

Health & Immunization Requirements

    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol.
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Titer or vaccines required with specific booster rules. Declinations require medical verification.
    • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, completed vaccine series, or signed declination.
    • Varicella: Titer or 2 vaccines with booster rules; prior infection documentation accepted.
    • Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (Oct-Mar) or signed declination with completion of declination module.
    • COVID-19 Vaccine: Strongly recommended but not required.
  • Drug Testing:

    • 12-panel drug screen within 1 year of start, covering specific substances.
    • 10-panel acceptable if all required drugs are included.
  • Respiratory Safety Clearance:

    • Annual medical clearance required for respirator use.
    • Virtual questionnaire completed prior to start.

Background Checks & Compliance

  • 7-year criminal background check required; recent background checks within 1 year may be accepted if complete.
  • Various national and state-specific checks including FACIS 3, county civil, state criminal, national criminal database, global sanctions, sex offender registry, and others.
  • WA State Patrol Search required within 12 months and rerun every 2 years.
  • Background checks must be fully completed before approval; no pending searches allowed except specific county civil searches under strict conditions.

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Photo for Badge: Must be on blue background, no hats or headwear, submitted within 72 hours of contract signing.

  • Math Test: Proctored onsite test required for all RNs and MAs; remediation allowed if failed.

  • Modules:

    • Mandatory completion of assigned online modules prior to start (approx. 8 hours).
    • Epic test-out modules required for inpatient nurses.
    • Module logins created by facility IT; candidates should not contact facility directly.
    • Time spent on modules prior to start is reimbursed.
  • Meal Waiver Agreement: Optional, only if waiving second meal period.
