Job Opportunity: RN - Telemetry

Location: Portsmouth, New Hampshire

Unit Information

• Unit: Cardiac Medical Unit (Cardiac step-down from CSSU and IVCU, med/surg telemetry, stroke overflow)
• Beds: 20
• Patient Ratio: 5:1
• Staffing: 4 RN teams with free CNC, 2 LNA’s, and a Unit Clerk
• Equipment: IV pumps, Sara Steady’s, Hi-flow, BiPAP, Kangaroo pumps
• Documentation System: Meditech Expanse
• Scheduling: 3 shifts of 12 hours each, plus every other weekend or 4-week shift rotation
• Floating Policy: Not specified
• Patient Experience: Bedside shift rounds and handoff required

• Thoracentesis
• Peritoneal Dialysis (PD)
• Tracheostomies (Trachs)
• Pacemakers
• Cardiac Catheterization
• CIWA (Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment)

Required Certifications and Licenses

• Registered Nurse License (RN)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• NIH Certification

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience in nursing specialty (Telemetry)

Skills and Qualifications

• Proficient in Telemetry nursing
• Advanced cardiac skills required
• Must be able to manage patients with CHF, COPD, chest pain rule-out, cardiac management, chest tubes, high-flow oxygen, BiPAP, and stroke overflow patients
• Cannot take patients post Cath lab unless radial artery access was used

Summary

This travel RN position in telemetry requires a minimum of 2 years of specialty experience and certifications including ACLS, BLS, and NIH. The role involves caring for cardiac step-down patients with complex needs in a busy 20-bed unit with a 5:1 patient ratio. The contract length is approximately 13 weeks with 12-hour shifts and rotating weekends.
