Description
Job Opportunity: X-Ray Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)
Location: Orangeburg, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Perform radiographic procedures requiring strong knowledge of anatomical positioning and physiology.
- Apply ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis in adult and/or pediatric radiology.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, showing initiative and technical competency.
- Float within scope to cover OR, Orthopedics, Fluoroscopy, Inpatient, Outpatient, and ER.
Schedule
- 4x10 hour shifts, Monday to Thursday, 8:30 AM - 7:00 PM
- On-call rotation required, including weekends
Experience & Certification Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Radiology/Cardiology specialty
- Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required
- First-timers accepted
- Required Certifications:
- ARRT (R)
- SCRQSA (R)
- BLS (American Heart Association preferred)
- CPR
- Radiation badge required (must be provided by agency; facility does not provide)
- Fluoroscopy and OR experience required

Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License and Social Security Card
- Completed I-9 form and E-Verify attestation confirming work eligibility in the US
- Background checks including:
- SSN Trace
- County and state criminal checks (7 years)
- Sex Offender Registry
- National Criminal and FACIS 3
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks updated every 30 days
- Education verification (diploma/transcripts preferred as placeholder if needed)
- Primary source verification of active, unencumbered South Carolina license/certification
- NURSYS verification for applicable licenses
- Drug screening: 10-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Physical exam updated annually, attesting ability to meet job demands
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tdap within 10 years or declination form
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or vaccines; boosters if low titer)
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Varicella (positive titer or vaccines; boosters if low titer)
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start or chest X-ray if positive history
- Annual TB questionnaire
- COVID vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30) or medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
- Respirator medical clearance annually (RespSafety questionnaire)
- Color blindness testing prior to start
- Competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests as applicable
- Facility-specific orientation modules and first day instructions must be completed before start
- Clear, passport-style badge photo required before start
Additional Notes
- Facility allows calling off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Locals may be accepted on a case-by-case basis
- Radiation badge processing may take 5-7 days; candidates cannot start patient care without it
- Travelers must complete all required documentation and certifications prior to orientation
- Modules and orientation typically take 4-6 hours to complete
This position is ideal for Radiology professionals with at least 1 year of experience, who are comfortable working varied shifts with on-call responsibilities and have the required certifications and clearances.
