Job Opportunity: X-Ray Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)

Location: Orangeburg, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

  • Perform radiographic procedures requiring strong knowledge of anatomical positioning and physiology.
  • Apply ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis in adult and/or pediatric radiology.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating technical competency and initiative.

Schedule

  • Shift: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (3x12s)
  • Days: Saturday through Monday
  • Hours: 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • No on-call rotation required
  • Floating within scope to cover OR, Orthopedics, Fluoroscopy, Inpatient, Outpatient, and ER

Experience & Certification Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience required in the specialty
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • National Certifications Required:
    • ARRT (R)
    • SCRQSA (R)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • CPR
  • Radiation badge required (must be provided by the agency; facility does not provide badges)
  • Fluoroscopy and OR experience required

Important Notes

  • Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks (guaranteed hours subject to this)
  • Local candidates accepted on a case-by-case basis
  • Hurricane season (June-November) may require assignment to emergency response teams; avoid confirming new or extended assignments during peak months (August-September) if this is a concern

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Proof of work eligibility (I-9, Driver’s License/State ID, Social Security Card)
  • Background checks including:
    • SSN Trace
    • County and state criminal checks (including South Carolina)
    • Sex Offender Registry
    • National Criminal and FACIS 3
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks updated every 30 days
  • Education verification or diploma/transcripts as placeholder
  • OFAC Sanctions List Search
  • State-specific Medicaid Excluded Providers check
  • References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
  • Employment application and skills checklist (updated annually)
  • Work history verification of last 3 clinical employers

Certifications & Competencies

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA only; required for certain units, verify with facility
  • BLS – AHA certification required for all clinical staff
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – Required for pediatric units except Peds OR; preferred for Peds OR
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – AHA/AAP certification required
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – Required as applicable; not required for ER RNs
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) – AWHONN or NCC acceptable
  • National tech certifications as applicable (e.g., ASCP for MLTs, NBRC for RRTs)
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exams required as applicable
  • Color Blind Testing required prior to start
  • Competency exams required, including OR competency for Peds OR if applicable

Licensure

  • South Carolina state license required (primary source verification)
  • RRTs require SC RRT license
  • Cath Lab Techs may start with SC registration pending full license approval
  • NURSYS verification required for RNs and LPNs/LVNs
  • IV Therapy certification required for select LPNs if applicable

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam required, updated annually
  • Fit mask test done onsite during orientation (no PAPR available)
  • Immunizations and titers required or accepted:
    • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
    • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days) or chest X-ray if positive history
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella – positive titers or vaccination with boosters as needed
    • Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination
    • Varicella – positive titer or vaccination with boosters as needed
  • Drug screening: 10-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30) or medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
  • COVID vaccination not required but highly preferred; vaccination records must be uploaded or declination form completed
  • Respirator safety clearance required annually for patient-facing travelers

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Completion of orientation modules prior to start (approx. 4-6 hours)
  • Clear, passport-style photo for badge required before start
  • Signed job description required prior to start
  • Additional physical assessment required for sterile processing techs if applicable
  • Upload COVID and flu vaccine documentation into facility system
