Job Details

• Position: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)
• Shift: Night shifts, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each
• Specialty: Med/Surg Telemetry
• Required Experience: Minimum of 18 months recent and permanent Med/Surg Telemetry experience
• License: Must have a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license in hand
• Certifications Required:

  • AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• Work Requirement: Must work at least every other holiday
• Assessments:

  • ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate test during orientation (passing score required)

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Specialty Experience: At least 18 months of recent and permanent Med/Surg Telemetry nursing experience
• Licensure: Permanent Ohio RN license or compact state license
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Orientation & Training

• Pass/fail ECG and medication dosing testing during orientation
• Online training modules must be completed prior to start (typically takes multiple days)
• Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; video content must be watched before testing
• PBDS Assessment waived

Health & Compliance Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (required for new candidates signing after 4/11/2025)
• Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months and updated annually
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titers)
  • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
  • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
• Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (10/31 - 03/31)

Background & Verification

• Government-issued photo ID required
• Background check including FCRA compliant 7-year search, education verification, and fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) required prior to start and updated annually
• Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract; results required within 12 months and updated annually
• State-specific fingerprint attestation required
• Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area
• Two professional references required from employment within one year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)

• Annual competency exams and skills checklists
• Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and pass/fail testing requirements
• Must be able to safely perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
• Candidates must be prepared to complete all onboarding modules and assessments before clearance to start

Summary

This is a travel contract RN position for Med/Surg Telemetry night shifts in Ohio requiring a minimum of 18 months recent and permanent experience in Med/Surg Telemetry nursing. Candidates must hold a valid Ohio or compact state RN license, current BLS and ACLS certifications, and meet comprehensive health, background, and compliance requirements. Orientation includes mandatory testing and online modules that must be completed prior to starting the assignment.
