Description
RN - Med Surg Travel Position
Location: Nashville, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel
Unit & Facility Information
- Unit: 12 Tower
- Number of Beds: 36
- Patient Ratios: 1:4 / 1:5
- Staffing: Secretary every day, PRN techs
- Equipment: PD Cyclers, Welch Allyn VS Carts, Hoyer Lift, Broda Chairs, Alaris IV Pumps
- Documentation System: Meditech
- Scheduling: 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week block required
- Floating Policy: Will float over core staff
- Patient Experience Requirements: Bedside shift report, safety checks every 1-2 hours, focus on communication and responsiveness
Required Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Registered Nurse License
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an RN in Med Surg specialty
Skills & Responsibilities
- Perform basic patient assessments and general care
- Care and maintenance of wounds, tracheostomy, ostomy, drains, chest tubes, strokes, seizures
- Patient population may require dialysis or PCA pumps; only drip medication is Heparin
- Post-op procedures on unit include amputations, ostomy, drains, chest tubes, oral surgeries, and wound vacs
Unit Policies & Guidelines
- HAI prevention: CVC and Foley monitoring with standard precautions
- Fall prevention protocols
- 100% medication scanning, including controlled substances
- Attendance per policy
Work Environment
- Team-oriented, youthful group with supportive charges and leadership
