Description

Job Opportunity: OB/GYN Sonographer (Maternal Fetal Medicine)

Employment Type: Contractor
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

  • No weekends, no call, no holidays

Job Description

  • Perform basic to advanced obstetric diagnostic ultrasound imaging and procedures, including:
    • First trimester scans
    • Nuchal translucency
    • Anatomy scans
    • Growth scans
    • Dopplers
    • Biophysical profile
    • Basic fetal echocardiography
    • Transvaginal ultrasound
    • Portable imaging
    • Amniocentesis
    • Chorionic villi sampling (CVS)
  • Select appropriate transducers and technical settings for accurate exams, including Doppler, color imaging, M-mode, and real-time imaging
  • Use independent judgment and non-standard techniques as needed
  • Review medical records for clinical information (patient history, lab results, physician orders) prior to exams
  • Communicate with patients to obtain history data
  • Calibrate, adjust, and maintain ultrasound equipment; report equipment failures
  • Participate in quality assurance studies and maintain accurate records including billing documentation
  • Assist in clinical instruction of sonography students, OB/GYN residents, and medical students
  • Perform patient positioning and transporting duties requiring lifting and pushing/pulling with proper technique
  • Provide age-appropriate care based on knowledge of growth and development principles

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of sonographer experience specifically in Maternal Fetal Medicine
  • Licensure/Certification:
    • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) with OB/GYN specialty issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers issued by the American Heart Association
  • Skills & Abilities:
    • Advanced knowledge of fetal abnormalities and their diagnosis
    • Proficient in scanning various anatomical areas and identifying normal vs. abnormal cross-sectional anatomy
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient service skills
    • Basic computer proficiency (e.g., email, electronic medical records)

  • 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
