Job Opportunity: EEG Tech (Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics)

Job Details

• Position floats between units
• On-call required: Yes (rotating weekday and weekend call)

  • Typically 2-4 weekdays per month and 1 weekend every 6 weeks
• Weekend shifts required: Yes (rotation, about 1 weekend every 6 weeks)
• Occasional weekend day shifts coverage needed during PTO
• Block schedules required
• Expected patient ratio: 1:1

Experience Requirements

• Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics (EEG Tech)
• Required years of experience: 2 years (highest requirement found)

Certifications Required

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - Current certification by AAP, AHA, or Canadian Paediatric Society
• Other certifications may be required based on clinical track and unit (verify with clinical leadership)

Licenses and Verifications

• State professional license as applicable
• NURSYS verification for RNs/LPNs/APs
• Tech certification verification as applicable
• Education verification required for all candidates
• Background checks including:

  • Nationwide criminal background check within 45 days of start
  • SSN trace, Death Master Index, Sex Offender, FACIS Level 3
  • Education verification
  • State-specific searches as applicable
• Drug screening: 10 panel within 90 days of start (no instant tests)

Health and Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
• Fit mask test (annual, travel only)
• Immunizations and titers:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
  • COVID vaccine or declination
• Respiratory safety clearance (annual for travel)

Compliance and Training

• Completion of Providence Health and Services required WorkRamp modules prior to start, including:

  • Core regulatory modules (annual)
  • Specialty-specific modules for travel and per diem staff
  • Epic training modules (must be completed within a week of orientation)
• Float policy acknowledgment (may be required to float to other Providence facilities nearby)

References and Employment History

• Minimum of 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
• Employment application covering at least last 5 years (7 years for APN/subcontractors) with month/year format
• Skills checklist updated annually as applicable

Additional Notes

• Background checks and education verifications must be current and compliant with Providence policies
• On-call and weekend rotations are part of the schedule
• Floating between units and facilities may be required
• Charting is done in Epic system

This position is ideal for EEG Techs with at least 2 years of experience looking for a travel contract in a large acute care teaching hospital setting with rotating on-call and weekend responsibilities.
