Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Location: Winston Salem, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse for a 1:1 ratio Operating Room unit specializing in gynecological procedures including therapeutic abortions (TABs) and robotic hysterectomy. No oncology cases.


Requirements

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience (highest required)
  • Prior travel experience required; 1st time travelers will not be accepted

Skills & Certifications

  • Required: BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
  • Preferred: Robotics training, experience with Da Vinci surgical system, Novasure, Myosure
  • Must be able to circulate in the OR
  • Certifications may include ACLS, PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM depending on unit specifics (verify as applicable)

Shift & Schedule

  • 40 hours per week
  • Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM (8-hour days)
  • Call requirement: Approximately once per week from 5 PM to 7 AM, including holiday rotation
  • Potential weekend call if weekend staff is off
  • May float to other surgical service areas

Patient Population & Procedures

  • Patients: Women ages 12 and up
  • Procedures: Gynecological surgeries including therapeutic abortions and robotic hysterectomies

Unit Systems & Equipment

  • Unit uses Pyxis, EPIC, SBAR systems
  • Special equipment: Da Vinci robotic system preferred, Novasure, Myosure

Additional Information

Time Off Policy

  • RTO (Return to Office) after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite
  • Excessive call-offs or additional RTO may result in cancellation and Do Not Rehire status

Compliance & Onboarding Requirements (Summary)

  • Background checks within 6 months
  • Drug testing within 6 months (9-panel acceptable)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (with exceptions for past positives)
  • Required health documents: Physical exam, immunizations (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella), flu vaccination or exemption
  • Competency exams including medication, dysrhythmia/EKG (with remediation process if needed)
  • Photo for badge (passport style, white background, business attire)
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation and training modules (including medication safety, confidentiality, hospital policies)
  • Must complete Non-Novant Health Worker Orientation (up to 8 hours) prior to start
  • Must complete Corp ID setup and log into I-Learn within 24 hours of receiving credentials to avoid start delays
