Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Oncology Clinic
Location: Salisbury, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
This is a Registered Nurse position in an outpatient oncology clinic specializing in medical oncology. The role involves patient phone triage, managing patient portal messages, drawing blood via venipuncture or PORT-A-Cath, and assisting with breast exams. The clinic has 16 exam rooms and 20 infusion rooms.
Required Qualifications
- Specialty: Registered Nurse
- Minimum Years of Experience: 2 years
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required; 1st time travelers accepted
- Licensure: North Carolina State Nursing License required
- Certifications: BLS required
- Skills:
- Outpatient Oncology experience
- Chemotherapy: Recognize and communicate abnormal lab values
- IV Therapy/Infusions: Starting and maintaining IVs
- Phlebotomy skills & Telephone Triage
- EKG (must pass EKG testing prior to start)
- Equipment: Must bring your own stethoscope
- Electronic Health Record: EPIC experience required
Preferred Qualifications
- Oncology clinic experience
- Biotherapy skills: Recognize/manage side effects
- Experience with cancers including bladder, kidney, brain, breast, colorectal, leukemia, liver, lung, lymphoma, melanoma, multiple myeloma, ovarian, pancreatic, and prostate cancers
- IV Therapy/Infusions: Accessing/managing ports, infusion pump management, intravenous hydration/multivitamins, PICC line care
- Oncologic emergencies: Extravasation injury management
- Professional knowledge: Care coordination, isolation and neutropenic precautions
- Symptom management: Skin/mucous membrane alterations, altered mental status, constipation/diarrhea, edema, nausea/vomiting, neuropathy
Work Details
- Shift: 40 hours per week, 8-hour days (08:00 - 17:00)
- Call/Floating/Weekend Requirements: None
- Patient Age Group: Adults and Geriatrics
- Patient Diagnoses: Hematology and Oncology
- Scheduling: Per clinic needs
- Orientation: Per clinic needs
- Scrubs: Navy blue (not provided)
Compliance & Requirements
- Background checks including criminal, education verification, and state-specific registry searches required within 90 days of start
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (updated annually if past positive TB)
- Fit mask testing required (N95 or PAPR training)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray as applicable
- Drug screening within 30 days of start
- Immunizations and titers required: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (facility-specific declination form if titer negative), Flu vaccination or approved exemption
- Must pass medication and EKG competency exams as applicable
- Completion of facility-specific orientation and training modules including confidentiality agreement, medication safety, and non-Novant health worker orientation
- Must provide professional references as per Aya Healthcare requirements
Important Notes
- No Return to Office (RTO) after booking allowed onsite
- Interview availability must be provided at time of submission; offers contingent on interview
- Must bring your own stethoscope
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- EPIC experience is mandatory for this role
