Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse
Location: Seneca, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
- Call and Float: Required; floating limited to qualified units with documented competencies
- Patient Ratios:
- 1:1 with labor patients
- 1:2 with cytotec inductions
- 1:1 with magnesium patients
- 1:3 with couplet (mother-baby) care
- 1:1 if baby goes to sick nursery
- Unit Responsibilities:
- Labor and Delivery (LDRP) with nursery duties
- Cross-trained roles including labor and delivery, circulator, acute care nursery, OB triage
- Care for GYN surgery patients
- Perform hearing screenings
- Medication System: Omnicell
- Charting System: EPIC (1 year experience required)
Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery
- Years of Experience Required: Minimum 2 years
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required; 1st time travelers may be considered depending on experience
Certifications Required
- ACLS (AHA or ARC, RQI acceptable)
- AWHONN Intermediate
- BLS (AHA or ARC, RQI acceptable)
- NRP (AHA Advanced only)
- RN State License (Primary source verification required)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (AWHONN)
- Additional certifications may be required based on unit specifics (e.g., Lactation Certificate for Baby Friendly designation)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background check (7-year, within 12 months of start)
- E-Verify or attestation
- Drug screening (5 panel, within 1 year, updated annually)
- Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet job demands
- Immunizations and titers:
- TB test (True 2-step PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or Tspot within 90 days)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - positive titer or 2 vaccines
- Varicella - positive titer or 2 vaccines
- Hepatitis B vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for certain high-risk areas)
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved exemption (required by deadlines)
- Fit mask/respirator fit test to be completed onsite during orientation
- Photo for badge (passport style, specific background and quality requirements)
- Completion of online modules and pass/fail testing prior to start (approx. 12-16 hours)
- Annual competency exams and core training (Parts I, II, III) with minimum passing scores
- Floating policy acknowledgment (annual)
Additional Notes
- Floating is required but limited to qualified areas
- Medication and arrhythmia pass/fail testing required for RNs in this unit
- Lactation certification required due to Baby Friendly facility status
- Candidates must complete all required online modules and testing before starting
- Prior travel experience is not mandatory but will be reviewed for first-time travelers
- Documentation must be verifiable with appropriate clinic or provider information
- Some certifications and trainings must not expire within 30 days of start date
This position offers a comprehensive Labor and Delivery nursing experience in a Baby Friendly facility with a supportive team environment and cross-training opportunities.
