Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Rehab (Travel/Contract)
Location: Harvey, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) - Rehab
- Experience Required: Minimum 1 year of Med Surg experience (MS experience required)
- Additional Experience Accepted: LTAC/SNF experience accepted
- Floating: Required
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Patient Ratios: 1:5-7
- First-timers: Accepted
- Block Schedule: Not accommodated
- Locals: Accepted
- Pending License: Not accepted
- Return to Office Restrictions: 7 days max
- Charting System: Epic
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support): Required for all candidates (AHA provider or AHA RQI accepted; RQI provider like Laerdal not accepted)
- ACLS, PALS: Required only for specific RN/unit positions (not required for this Rehab RN role)
- Other certifications such as NRP, TNCC, EFM are recommended for specific units but not required here.
Licensure & Verification
- Must have an active RN license verified through the state licensing board within 30 days of assignment start
- NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start
- Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) fingerprinting required if the profession does not require an Illinois state license (not typical for RN)
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Physical Exam: Required within 1 year and updated annually
- Fit Mask Test: Required within 1 year of start (3M 1860, 1870+, or 9205+ masks accepted)
- Immunizations & Titers: Must provide proof or vaccination/positive titer for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (declination allowed)
- Varicella
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Proof within 10 years or declination (TD not accepted in lieu of Tdap)
- TB Testing: Negative PPD, Qgold, or Tspot within 1 year; clear chest X-ray if positive TB history
- Drug Testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Flu Vaccination: Required for flu season (10/1 to 3/31); religious or medical exemptions require facility approval; declinations not accepted
Background & Documentation
- 7-year background check including aliases, sex offender, criminal, federal, education verification, and international checks if applicable
- Education verification required for highest level of education (ADN or BSN for RN)
- Employment verification for last 7 years
- Skills checklist updated annually for assigned and float units
- 2 professional references required
- Current resume covering last 7 years of employment with explanations for gaps over 30 days
- Photo for badge (passport style, plain background, forward facing, no headgear)
- Completion of facility orientation modules (~2 hours) prior to start
Additional Notes
- Prior travel experience is not required for this position
- Floating between units is mandatory
- Candidates must be able to work every other weekend
- Religious and medical exemption forms available for COVID and influenza vaccines, with a review process that may take up to one week
- Illinois state fingerprinting must be completed in-state and prior to start if applicable
