Job Opportunity: Sonographer - Maternal Fetal Medicine (High Risk OB)

Job Type

  • Contractor (Contract Position)

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Required Experience

  • Minimum 1 year experience specifically in a Maternal Fetal Medicine / High Risk OB department

Schedule

  • Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
  • No weekends, no call, no holidays

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform basic to advanced obstetric diagnostic ultrasound imaging and procedures, including:
    • First trimester scans
    • Nuchal translucency
    • Anatomy and growth scans
    • Dopplers and biophysical profiles
    • Basic fetal echocardiography
    • Transvaginal ultrasound
    • Portable imaging
    • Amniocentesis and chorionic villi sampling (CVS)
  • Select appropriate transducers and technical settings for accurate exams, including Doppler, color imaging, M-mode, and real-time imaging
  • Use independent judgment and non-standard techniques as needed
  • Review medical records for clinical information and communicate with patients to obtain history
  • Calibrate, adjust, and maintain ultrasound equipment; report equipment failures
  • Participate in quality assurance studies and maintain accurate records including billing documentation
  • Assist in clinical instruction of sonography students, OB/GYN residents, and medical students
  • Perform patient positioning and transporting duties with proper technique
  • Provide age-appropriate care based on patient growth and development principles

Licensure and Certifications Required

  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) with OB/GYN specialty issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers issued by the American Heart Association

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Advanced knowledge of fetal abnormalities and their diagnosis
  • Proficient in scanning various anatomical areas and identifying normal vs. abnormal sonographic findings
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient service skills
  • Basic computer proficiency, including use of email and electronic medical records
