Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg (Nights)

Location: West Des Moines, Iowa

Job Description

• Work 36-40 hours per week; overtime billable after 40 hours
• Required to float across multiple campuses within the hospital system
• Unit details:

  • Bed size: 34
  • Patient types: Orthopedics, total joint replacements
  • Ability to administer specific cardiac IV medications (preferred)
• Nurse-to-patient ratios:

  • Days: 1:5
  • Nights: 1:6
• Scrubs: Navy blue, solids
• EMR system: EPIC

Requirements

• Experience:

  • Minimum 24 months of Medical Surgical (MS) experience in a hospital or medical center setting (required)
  • Ortho/Rehab experience including total joints and braces (required)
• EPIC EMR experience (required)
• Experience administering cardiac IV/intravenous push medications (highly preferred)
• Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license at time of submission (required)
• Current BLS certification from AHA or ARC (required)
• Valid driver’s license (required)
• Skills checklist specific to Medical Surgical or Medical Surgical/Telemetry discipline (required)
• Professional references within the last 24 months preferred

Additional Information

• First-time travel nurses accepted
• Orientation date is firm
• Prior travel experience is not required

This position is ideal for RNs with solid Medical Surgical and Ortho/Rehab experience looking for a temporary night shift role in a hospital setting with a focus on orthopedics and total joint replacements.
