Job Description

• Provide professional nursing care for patients in the emergency room.
• Triage patients and determine priority of care based on physical, psychological, and social needs.
• Perform focused assessments of chief complaints in a timely manner according to triage guidelines.
• Make quick and accurate assessments of physical and mental health conditions.
• Deliver safe and effective nursing care including medication administration, patient transfers, wound management, line/tube/drain management, and assisting with procedures.
• Ensure patient safety and respond quickly to changes in patient condition or treatment response.
• Maintain accurate and concise patient records and communicate assessment findings to providers promptly.
• Administer medications following the Five Medication Rights and scan medications per protocol (except emergencies).
• Interact respectfully and empathetically with patients, families, co-workers, and providers.
• Address psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and families.
• Provide age-appropriate care based on knowledge of growth and development principles.
• Follow hospital policies for documentation, biohazard disposal, and medical equipment handling.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervising personnel.
