Description

Job Opportunity: Stepdown Cardiac Registered Nurse

Location: Paramus, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Floating required to Stepdown (SD) unit attached to cardiac telemetry
  • Every other week (EOW) as needed
  • Floating within one facility only; no floating to other hospitals for acute care travelers
  • Must be able to read cardiac telemetry strips and hang cardiac drips
  • Experience with post cardiac catheterization groin management required

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse with minimum 2 years of telemetry experience
  • Valid New Jersey or compact nursing license
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
  • Ability to float to SD unit attached to cardiac telemetry
  • COVID-19 vaccine and booster required, no exemptions

Prior Travel Experience

  • No explicit prior travel experience required

Certifications & Competencies

  • Pass/Fail Testing onsite required for:
    • Telemetry competency exam
    • Medication exam
  • Annual competency exams with minimum 80% passing score required for:
    • Medication/Pharmacology
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG (except certain units)
    • Core Competency Parts I, II, and III (covering National Patient Safety, HIPAA, OSHA, Infection Control, Ethics, etc.)
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required
  • Education verification and state license verification must be current (within 30 days prior to start)
  • Physical exam within 72 hours of contract signing, stating good health and no limitations
  • Fit mask test required within 1 year of start (N95 or equivalent)
  • Drug testing: Negative 9-panel within 72 hours of contract signing
  • Immunizations and health documents required within 72 hours of contract signing:
    • COVID-19 vaccine and booster (mandatory, no declinations)
    • Flu vaccine (mandatory, no religious or medical declinations accepted)
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (preferred, not required)
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) proof or titers
    • Hepatitis B surface antibody or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or titer

Background Checks & Documentation

  • 7-year background check required within 6 months of start
  • Sex offender, OFAC sanctions, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days prior to start
  • Education verification and transcript/diploma required
  • Employment verification for last 7 years required, including explanation for gaps over 30 days
  • Two professional references required:
    • One supervisory reference from within 12 months
    • One professional reference from within 3 years

Additional Notes

  • Local candidates considered within a 75-mile radius
  • Candidates able to start by 2/16 or sooner will receive priority
  • Floating is limited to one facility only
  • Must confirm experience with post cardiac catheterization groin management in submission notes

This position is ideal for experienced telemetry RNs comfortable with cardiac stepdown care and telemetry monitoring, who meet the required certifications and health documentation standards.
