Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse for Operating Room (OR) travel assignment. Must have at least 2 years of OR experience. This role requires flexibility to float to other OR units within the same campus.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of specialty experience in OR nursing.
• Thoracic and vascular experience required to take call independently.
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification only.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred.
• CNOR preferred but not mandatory.

Work Schedule & Call Requirements

• Weekends: Dependent on unit needs.
• Call: Three weeknight call shifts (11p-7a) and three weekend call shifts (7a-7p or 7p-7a) every 6 weeks.
• Call response time: 30 minutes.
• Schedules are provided in 6-week intervals with some variability; changes are communicated in advance.

Job Details & Restrictions

• Previous permanent staff at this facility are not permitted to work as travelers here.
• Hard stops (no coverage) for Robotics, General, Urology, Gynecology, Bariatrics, minor vascular, plastics, and thoracic cases unless the clinician has thoracic and vascular experience.
• Must float to other OR units within the First Hill Campus as needed.

Licensure

• Active compact license accepted by all Swedish facilities in Washington.
• Must comply with Washington state nursing licensure requirements.

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years.
• Education verification required for nursing degree.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
• Drug screen: 10-panel within 90 days of start (instant tests not accepted).
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • TDAP (within 10 years or declination accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season
  • COVID vaccine or declination
• Respirator fit testing required for travel candidates (updated annually).

Additional Requirements

• References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years.
• Employment application covering at least the last 5 years.
• Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units.
• Must complete required Providence WorkRamp training modules prior to start, including:

  • Annual regulatory requirements
  • Specialty-specific modules for OR and travel staff
• Float policy acknowledgment required (may float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance).
