Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Seattle, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse for Operating Room (OR) travel assignment. Must have at least 2 years of OR experience. This role requires flexibility to float to other OR units within the same campus.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of specialty experience in OR nursing.
- Must have thoracic and vascular experience to take call independently.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
Work Schedule & Call Requirements
- Weekends: Dependent on unit needs.
- Call: Three weeknight call shifts (11 PM - 7 AM) and three weekend call shifts (7 AM - 7 PM or 7 PM - 7 AM) every 6 weeks.
- Call response time: 30 minutes.
- Schedules are provided in 6-week intervals with some variability; changes are communicated in advance.
Licensure & Certifications
- Active compact nursing license accepted in Washington.
- Required Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification only.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred.
- CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room) preferred but not mandatory.
Job Duties & Restrictions
- Float required: May be assigned to different OR specialties within the campus.
- Hard stops (not allowed to work in these specialties): Robotics, General, Urology, Gynecology, Bariatrics, Minor Vascular, Plastics, and Thoracic cases unless experienced.
- Must be able to take call independently for thoracic and vascular cases.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years.
- Drug screen: 10-panel within 90 days of start (no instant tests).
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- TDAP (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) within 10 years or declination.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually.
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer.
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination.
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer.
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or declination during flu season.
- COVID vaccine or declination.
- Respirator fit testing required for travel candidates, updated annually.
- References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty within the last 3 years.
Additional Requirements
- Must complete Providence Health and Services - MSP required WorkRamp training modules prior to start, including:
- Annual regulatory requirements.
- Specialty-specific modules for OR nurses.
- Float Policy Acknowledgement required (may float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance).
- WA Multi-State Licensed Nurses Demographic Attestation required for nurses working with out-of-state compact licenses in Washington.

- Previous permanent staff at this facility are not permitted to work as travelers here, no exceptions.
- Active compact license holders are accepted.
- Schedule flexibility is prioritized but changes are communicated in advance.
- Background checks and other compliance documents must be current and uploaded as required.
