Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)

Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, Nights (7 PM - 7 AM), every other week (EOW)
  • Holidays: As needed
  • Floating: Required if needed; travelers may float across all facilities in the system
  • Patient Population: Primarily Medical-Surgical (MS) Telemetry unit
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty (Registered Nurse)
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not required; first-time travelers are welcome
  • Preferred Experience: Previous Charge RN experience preferred
  • Certifications Required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • Must pass a Pass/Fail EKG exam during onboarding
  • Electronic Medical Record: EPIC system used

Patient Care Focus

  • Observation patients
  • Respiratory conditions/problems
  • General Medical Surgical diagnoses
  • Palliative, End of Life, Hospice patients
  • Psychiatric Observation
  • Diabetes management (including new diabetics and those with complications)
  • Surgical patients and surgical observation

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
  • Social Security Card (required for badge)
  • Background Check (within 60 days, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years)
  • Education Verification (Associate’s degree in nursing or higher required)
  • Transcript/Diploma (copy of highest degree)
  • Foreign Equivalency Education Evaluation (if education obtained outside the U.S.)
  • Fingerprinting (NC SBI Fingerprint Results) required for Home Health and Long-Term Care only
  • Physical Exam (if applicable)
  • Immunizations and Health Documents including:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
    • Negative TB or Chest X-Ray (Qgold/TSPOT within 6 months)
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (MMR) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B titer or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved exemption
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10 Panel Drug Screen within 40 days of start
  • References: 2 supervisory references required for clinical positions (one within 12 months, one within 24 months)
  • Employment Application/Resume with 7-year work history
  • Work History Verification for last 5 years

Testing & Competencies

  • Pass/Fail EKG/Dysrhythmia Exam (required for all RNs except Behavioral Health and Case Managers)
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
  • Competency Exam (as applicable)
  • Color Blind Testing (online, as applicable)

Additional Certifications (may be required or preferred depending on unit)

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (required for MS/Tele and Cardiac Progressive Care units)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - may be preferred for certain units

Facility Policies

  • Zero tolerance for tardiness and unexcused absences
  • Floating across facilities is mandatory if needed
  • Candidates must review and sign floating policy and contractor equipment acknowledgement
  • Badge photo must meet strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire)

Important Notes

  • Candidates must be flexible with scheduling
  • Compliance deadline is 12 Noon EST the Wednesday prior to the start date
  • Candidates must acknowledge and pass all required testing and documentation for clearance
  • EPIC test required for RNs and allied candidates (2 attempts allowed, possible 3rd attempt with approval)

This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic MS/Tele unit with a supportive environment for first-time travel nurses and those with prior experience.
