Job Opportunity: Oncology Clinic Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Employment Type: Travel/Contract


Job Description

  • Position: Outpatient Oncology Registered Nurse (5 days a week, 8-hour shifts, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM)
  • Work Setting: Infusion Center and Outpatient Oncology
  • Patient Population: Treats all cancers except acute leukemias
  • Skills Required:
    • Biotherapy
    • Chemotherapy (Certifications required: ONS/ONCC)
    • IV Therapy/Infusions
    • Medication administration
    • Management of oncologic emergencies
  • Preferred Experience: Care of patients with bladder/kidney, brain, breast, colorectal, ENT, leukemia/blood dyscrasias cancers, and hematology
  • Certification Requirements:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • Chemo certification (ONS/ONCC)
    • ONS/ONCC certification
  • Flu vaccine is mandatory for all employees

Experience Requirements

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse in Oncology
  • Required Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years (based on work history verification and references)
  • Prior Travel Experience: At least 1 prior travel assignment required for travel contracts

Certifications & Competencies

  • BLS (AHA or ARC)
  • Chemo certification (ONS/ONCC)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – review as applicable
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) if working in ED or Pediatrics
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) as required by unit
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) as required by unit
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (must score 80% or higher within 3 years)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (specific units only; must meet score requirements and be updated annually)
  • Other certifications as required by unit or state licensing

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within the past year (or annual questionnaire if prior positive history)
  • Immunizations or titers for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or signed declination)
  • Tdap vaccine within the last 10 years preferred
  • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required for flu season (Sept-Mar)
  • Drug screening within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
  • N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start and updated annually (client may complete onsite)

Background & Documentation

  • Criminal background check within 90 days of start, including all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • Education verification for highest degree required by position
  • Employment application with 7 years of work history (no gaps)
  • Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience in the last 3 years
  • Skills checklist updated annually
  • Valid state nursing license verification prior to start
  • I9 and E-Verify attestation required
  • Facility-specific orientation and safety manual acknowledgment required annually

Additional Notes

  • Valid driver's license required if driving is an essential job function
  • Completion of facility-specific modules (SITELS) prior to start date
  • Photo for badge with specific requirements (clear, centered, no glare, solid background)
