Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical Float

Location: Huntington, West Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience required
  • No prior travel experience explicitly required

Facility & Unit Highlights

  • Facility Type: Short Term Acute Care, Major Teaching Hospital (Council of Teaching Hospitals and Health Systems member)
  • Level II Trauma Center
  • Total Staffed Beds: 330
  • Charting System: Cerner
  • Scrub Color: Black scrubs (Cabell T-Shirt allowed instead of scrub top; surgery requires changing into provided surgery scrubs)
  • Free parking available for travelers

Certifications & Licenses Required

  • Registered Nurse license (Primary Source Verification required)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only, as required
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - as required
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - as required
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - as required
  • NIH Stroke Certification (required for all RNs except OR RNs; must be current or completed onsite within 2 weeks of start)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - required for ICU
  • NURSYS verification for all RNs

Background & Compliance Checks

  • 7-year criminal background check within 1 year, updated annually
  • Background check within 30 days of start (including international if applicable)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals/extensions
  • Government issued photo ID required on person during hours of service
  • Residency Declaration Form required if working on a compact license

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Initial physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; annual TB questionnaire required
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (2nd booster can pend at start)
  • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination
  • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (2nd booster can pend at start)
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination required annually (declinations not accepted unless approved medical or religious exemption)
  • COVID-19 seasonal vaccine required; initial series preferred; declination form required if opting out
  • Drug testing per facility requirements, must be within 30 days of start

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Completion of facility orientation and annual education modules prior to or within 1 week of start
  • Completion of confidentiality agreement, attestation forms, and IT access agreements before start
  • N95 fit test completed onsite at orientation (male candidates must be clean shaven)
  • Submission of approved medical or religious exemptions for flu and COVID vaccines if applicable
  • Creation of facility-specific account for timekeeping prior to start

Competency Requirements

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
  • General Competency Exam required
  • Core HIPAA training and testing for subcontractors

References & History

  • Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations required
  • Performance evaluations required if worked with the system over 1 year
  • Internal evaluations required if worked with the system over 2 years
  • Complete employment application/resume required
  • Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units
