Job Summary

Seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with experience in respiratory and neuro diagnostics to work primarily in med/surg and ICU step-down units, with possible shifts in the Emergency Department. Patient population ranges from adolescents to geriatrics.

Required Qualifications

• Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
• Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-time travelers accepted)
• Work Setting Experience: ER, Adult ICU, Med/Surg, ICU/Stepdown
• Respiratory Care Skills:

  • Airway management
  • Medication administration
  • Ventilator management
  • ABGs
  • Oxygen therapy
  • Suctioning
  • Pulmonary toileting
  • Nebulizer treatments
  • BiPAP, CPAP
  • Vest therapy
  • Meta-neb
  • PAP therapy
  • Heated high-flow oxygen
• Electronic Medical Record: EPIC experience is required
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NC State License
  • RRT Credentials
• Preferred:

  • Skills with bronchoscopes
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification preferred
  • Note: CRT certification not accepted

Work Details

• Patient Ratios: 35-45 patients per day
• Shift Options: 36 or 48 hours available
• Shift Type: 12-hour night shifts
• Call Requirement: On-call as needed based on workload
• Float Requirement: No floating to other facilities; float only within the assigned facility
• Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts within a 6-week period
• Orientation:

  • Day shift orientation: 7 AM - 7 PM
  • Night shift orientation: 7 PM - 7 AM, with a few days of day shift orientation required for night shift RTs
• Scrubs: Black

Patient Diagnoses & Equipment

• Large respiratory care department practicing at the top of their license
• Equipment used includes:

  • Servo I, Servo U, Hamilton T1 ventilators
  • Servo Air
  • Night-time VPAP
  • Omni-labs and V30s
  • ABL90 ABG machine

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background checks within 6 months required
• Drug testing (9-panel) within 6 months required
• Various certifications and competency exams required (including medication competency, color blindness test, dysrhythmia/EKG competency)
• Health documents including physical exam, immunizations (TB, Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella), flu vaccination or exemption, and fit mask (N95) required
• Facility-specific documents such as confidentiality agreement, hospital policies acknowledgment, medication safety training, and photo for badge required
• Must complete Non-Novant Health Worker Orientation modules prior to start
• Must comply with on-call, weekend, and float requirements as specified

Important Notes

• RTO (Return to Office) after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite; excessive call-offs or RTO may lead to cancellation
• EPIC test-out option is not available for this facility
• Radiation badge not required for this specialty
• Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are accepted
