Job Opportunity: Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)

Location: Nantucket, Massachusetts

Work Schedule

• 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each
• Shift hours: 1:00 PM – 11:30 PM
• Days: Tuesday through Friday

Job Description

• Generalist role with responsibilities in blood bank and limited microbiology experience
• Requires Associates-level ASCP certification (e.g., MLT) or equivalent registration (AMT, HEW)

Certifications & Licenses

• MLT certification or equivalent registration

Training

• FEMA ICS 100 Training (must be completed, no exceptions)

Health Requirements

• Color vision test (within 365 days)
• MMR vaccination or proof of immunity
• Influenza vaccine during flu season (Sept 15 – April 30) with no exemptions
• TB test or negative QuantiFERON/T-spot within 3 months of start date
• Health statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 365 days
• Optional but preferred: Hepatitis B vaccination or immunity, Tdap vaccine within 10 years
• If positive TB test, chest x-ray documentation required

Background Checks & Professional Verification

• Criminal background check within 45 days prior to start
• Massachusetts CORI background check within 30 days prior to start
• Social Security Number trace for past 7 years
• National sex offender registry check within 30 days prior to start
• Exclusion checks (OIG, GSA, MassHealth, NH Medicaid) within 30 days prior to start
• Education verification of highest degree achieved
• Resume including past 7 years of work experience
• Two recent professional references (minimum one supervisor or above)
• Skills checklist and candidate submission coversheet required for submission

Other

• Respirator Medical Clearance attestation if fit testing is required

Summary

This is a long-term Medical Laboratory Technician position requiring ASCP or equivalent certification, with a generalist role including blood bank and limited microbiology. The schedule is Tuesday to Friday, 10-hour shifts in the afternoon/evening. Shared housing is provided. Comprehensive credentialing, health, and background checks are mandatory prior to or upon onboarding. Prior travel experience is not required.
