Job Opportunity: Electrophysiology Tech (CVT / EP TECH)
Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
- Shift: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (5 days x 8 hours, 40 hours/week)
- On-call: No
- Weekend Requirement: No
- Floating: Possible floating to like units
Types of Cases Required
- Diagnostic Catheterizations (Adult)
- Permanent Pacemaker Insertions (PPI)
- Pulmonary Artery (PA) Insertion
- Right Heart Catheterization
- Temporary Pacemakers
- Conduction Studies
- Insertion/Programming of AICDs
- Pacemaker Insertion
Experience & Certification Requirements
- Years of Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required
- First-timers: Accepted if they have previous experience
- National Certifications Required: ARDMS or CCI (ARRT also accepted but not required)
- Licensure Required: South Carolina QRSA license
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certification only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA certification only
- Radiation Badge: Required and must be provided by the agency (facility does not provide)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Includes SSN Trace, Statewide, National Criminal, Sex Offender Registry, FACIS 3, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
- Education Verification: Diploma or transcripts preferred as placeholder if verification pending
- Work History Verification: Last 3 clinical employers verified; attestation letters accepted if verification not possible
- References: Proof of 2 clinical references required
- Employment Application: Complete application/resume required
- Competency Exams: Medication test/pharmacology and other competency exams as applicable
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam: Initial and updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Fit Mask Test: N95 fit test within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually (specific mask models required)
- Immunizations & Titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years or declination form
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or chest X-ray if positive history
- Annual TB questionnaire
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low titer
- Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination required
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low titer
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Flu Vaccination: Required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30); medical/religious exemptions accepted but no declinations
- COVID-19 Vaccination: Not required but highly preferred; vaccination records must be uploaded or declination form completed
Facility Specific Requirements
- Orientation Modules: Must be completed prior to start; estimated 2 hours; completed on laptop/computer (not phone)
- Photo for Badge: Clear, passport-style photo with solid light background, frontal view only
- Local Radius: 60 miles
- Locals Accepted: Yes, on a case-by-case basis
Additional Notes
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Radiation badge processing can take 5-7 days before candidate can start working on floor
- Candidates with facial hair are encouraged to shave for fit testing or provide their own PAPR (not provided by facility)
This position is ideal for healthcare professionals with at least 1 year of experience in electrophysiology or cardiology tech roles, holding the required certifications and licensure, and able to comply with comprehensive health and background screening requirements.
