Description

Job Opportunity: MS/Tele Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Lancaster, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Registered Nurse (MS/Tele RN)
  • Shift: Nights (7 PM - 7 AM), Manager accepts either 3x12-hour or 4x12-hour shifts
  • Patient Ratios: 1:6 to 1:7
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • On-call: Not required
  • Floating: Required to float within scope to like units or sister facilities
  • Facility Type: Short term acute care hospital
  • Total Staffed Beds: 97
  • Charting System: Epic
  • Parking: No cost

Experience & Licensure Requirements

  • Years of Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty (Med/Surg experience required)
  • Travel Experience: Prior travel experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
  • Licensure: South Carolina RN license or Compact license must be in hand prior to start
  • Certifications Required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • NIH Stroke Certification
  • Preferred Experience: Telemetry, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias

Schedule & Work Conditions

  • Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • Call Out Policy: After 2 call outs without documented medical reason, contract may be canceled
  • Block Schedule: Approval can be requested but not guaranteed
  • Local Candidates: Accepted (at a reduced rate) within 60-mile radius

Required Training & Compliance

  • Must complete all assigned modules prior to start date (estimated 2 hours)
  • Attendance at staff meetings is required
  • COVID vaccination records preferred but not required; declination form must be completed if not vaccinated
  • Flu vaccine required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30), or medical/religious exemption accepted (no declinations)
  • Must upload vaccination and flu documentation into facility system prior to start

Background & Documentation Requirements

  • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • Proof of 2 clinical references required
  • Work history verification for last 3 clinical employers (exceptions apply)
  • Primary source verification of SC RN license required
  • NURSYS verification required for all RNs
  • Copy of Driver’s License, Social Security Card, and other standard employment documents required

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start attesting ability to meet physical demands
  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination form
  • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start or chest x-ray if positive history
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters if low titer
  • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination required
  • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters if low titer

Additional Notes

  • Hurricane season (June-November) may require assignment to emergency response teams; avoid confirming new or extension contracts during peak months (Aug-Sept) if this is a concern
  • Facility scrub color: Royal Blue
  • Photo for badge required (passport-style, frontal view)
  • Various facility-specific documents and acknowledgments must be signed prior to start

This position is ideal for experienced travel RNs with Med/Surg and telemetry skills who are comfortable working night shifts and floating within similar units. Prior travel contract experience is mandatory.
