Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room (Travel/Contract)

Location: Harvey, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room
  • Patient Ratio: 1:4
  • Years of Experience Required: 1 year (must have prior experience in an urban, Level I Trauma ED)
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Preferred Certifications

  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)

Experience & Skills

  • Must have prior experience in an urban, Level I Trauma Emergency Department
  • Experience in a teaching hospital preferred
  • Skills checklist required for assigned and float units (updated annually)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Background Checks

  • 7-year background check including aliases, sex offender, national and federal criminal checks, FACIS 3, OFAC
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
  • Education verification (ADN or BSN required)
  • Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) fingerprinting required if no Illinois state license

Health & Immunization Documents (Must be current and compliant)

  • Physical exam within 1 year, updated annually
  • Fit mask test within 1 year (3M 1860, 1870+, or 9205+)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination or declination (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • TB questionnaire if positive TB test
  • Proof of immunity or vaccination for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (declination allowed)
    • Varicella
  • Negative 9-panel drug test within 30 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation or approved exemption (for 2025-26 season)

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Photo for badge (passport style, plain background, forward facing, no headgear)
  • Completion of facility orientation modules (~2 hours) prior to start
  • COVID-19 religious or medical exemption forms if applicable (must be submitted at least 1 week prior to documentation due date)

Employment History & Verification

  • Resume covering last 7 years of employment with explanations for gaps over 30 days
  • At least 1 year of experience in specialty or comparable/higher acuity
  • Employment verification for 7 years required
  • Two professional references required

This position is ideal for RNs with emergency room experience in high-acuity, urban trauma settings who meet the certification and compliance requirements and are open to travel assignments.
