Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Largo, Maryland
Specialty: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele-ER Border)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Start Date: 02/23/2026
- Shift/Hours: 3x12 hour shifts (07:30 AM - 8:00 PM), Days
- Schedule: Every other weekend required; holidays required as scheduled
- Patient Ratio: 1:6
- Unit Description:
- Fast-paced, high volume border role between Emergency Department (ED), Medical-Surgical/Telemetry (MS/T), and Intermediate Care (IMC) units
- Average daily census: 10-40 patients
- Wide variety of patient diagnoses including complex ED admissions
- Floating required between ED borders, extenders to MS/T, IMC units within specialty and scope
- No pre-scheduled on-call shifts required
Experience Requirements
- Years of Specialty Experience: Minimum 2 years required
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required; first-time travelers accepted
Licenses & Certifications Required
- Maryland RN State License
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - required as applicable
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year criminal search, education verification, and state-specific exclusions
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Latex Screen
- Fit test within 1 year of start
- Immunizations and titers required:
- TB test or chest X-ray (annual updates required)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines/boosters
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer or declination (series not accepted)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (if working with children; not required for ER RN unless Peds ER)
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (2025-26 season)
- COVID vaccine not required for this location, but documentation collected for tracking
Additional Requirements
- Two supervisory references within 1 year of start
- Employment application/resume completed within 30 days of start
- Verification of previous 5 years of employment history (attestation accepted if necessary)
- Photo for badge (passport style with solid white/beige background)
- Signed job description and confidentiality agreement prior to start
- Completion of Portfolio Epic Training Test Out Form if applicable
Work Environment & Expectations
- Scrub color: Royal Blue
- Floating between related units within specialty and scope
- High volume, fast-paced environment requiring adaptability and strong clinical skills
This position is ideal for RNs with at least 2 years of experience in MS/Telemetry or Emergency Department settings who are comfortable working in a dynamic, high-acuity border role. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
