Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Technologist (Travel/Contract)

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: 4x10 hour shifts (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM), every other holiday
Call: Every 3rd weekend and 1-2 nights per week
Floating: Approximately 2 days per month to a nearby facility
Training: 2 weeks training onsite in Columbus


Job Summary

The Neuro Interventional Radiologic Technologist assists Neuro Interventional Radiologists during diagnostic and interventional procedures. Responsibilities include:

  • Acting as scrub assistant during invasive procedures
  • Operating angiographic fluoroscopy, ultrasound, and CT equipment (diagnostic and interventional)
  • Managing inventory of 1500+ products in the lab
  • Assisting with neurointerventional surgical procedures such as cerebral aneurysm coilings, AV malformations, stroke interventions
  • Supporting oncology procedures including biopsies, chemoembolizations, and Y-90 radiopharmaceutical therapies
  • Assisting with uterine artery embolizations, venous lysis of tumors, vertebroplasties, infusion pump placements/revisions, radiofrequency ablations, and peripheral vascular interventions
  • The department performs over 20,000 procedures annually

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in radiography with neuro experience required
  • Graduate of an accredited radiography program
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification
  • Ohio Radiologic License (pending license acceptable)
  • BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
  • Knowledge of anatomy, exposure, positioning, physics, radiation protection, and medical terminology
  • Willingness to assist in training permanent staff

Neurological Procedures Experience (Preferred)

Experience with the following procedures is highly relevant:

  • Angioplasty
  • Carotid and Cerebral Angiography
  • Discogram
  • Embolization
  • Spinal arteriography
  • Stent placement
  • Thrombolysis/Thrombectomy
  • Vertebroplasty

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA preferred, ARC or Military accepted
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Preferred but not mandatory
  • State Radiologic License: Ohio Radiologic License required (pending acceptable)
  • ARRT Certification: Required for Interventional Radiology Techs
  • Other certifications may be required based on unit specifics

Health and Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 2 years prior to start, indicating clearance to work without restrictions
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months of start
  • Respirator fit test within 1 year (if applicable)
  • Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption required by specified deadlines
  • Negative 9 or 10 panel drug screen within 90 days of start (marijuana tested, no medical marijuana exemptions)
  • Background check including 7-year history, sex offender, sanctions screening, and county searches
  • Fingerprinting required (onsite or scheduled prior to orientation)

Additional Notes

  • Traveler’s permanent address must be greater than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
  • Must be willing to float to a secondary location approximately 2 days per month
  • Must assist in training permanent staff
  • No explicit requirement for prior travel experience mentioned
