Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics (RRT) - Travel/Contract
Location: Burlington, Vermont
Contract Length: 16 weeks
Job Description
- Position: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- Setting: Inpatient, Adult ICU and general pediatric experience required (no NICU or PICU)
- Schedule: Weekends as needed, no call, schedule flexibility is a must
- Teaching hospital experience required
- Must have experience with many RT-driven protocols
- Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years is required and non-negotiable
Requirements
Licensure & Certifications
- Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT); Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) not accepted
- AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
- AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- AHA PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in the specialty
- Prior travel experience preferred (not required)
Additional Requirements
- Teaching hospital experience required
- All specialties worked must be well documented on each employment entry
- Reliable transportation required (public transportation not accessible)
- Vehicles should have all-season or snow tires from November to April
Orientation & Scheduling
- Bi-weekly orientations on Mondays
- No block schedules allowed
- Monday to Sunday work schedule
Compliance & Documentation
Background Checks & Verifications
- Background check within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Education verification based on highest degree
- Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) required for Home Health and Hospice specialties
- State license primary source verification within 30 days of start and upon expiration
Health & Safety
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- N95 Fit Test required prior to assignment and updated annually
- Required vaccinations or documentation:
- Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray if positive
- MMR (2 vaccines or positive titer for Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella)
- Hepatitis B series and titer or signed declination
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or exemption (medical/religious) required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
- COVID-19 vaccination or declination required
- Pneumonia vaccine or declination required if assigned to NY facility
Competencies & Exams
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as required
- Color blind testing required
- Skills checklist within 12 months
- Work history verification for last 2 years
- References: 2 professional references from assignments within 3 years
Facility Specific Requirements
- Completion of EPIC and Cornerstone modules prior to start (approx. 8 hours)
- Photo for badge (passport style, plain background) required two weeks prior to start
- Auto insurance required for Home Health and Hospice specialties
- Various facility policies and consent forms must be reviewed and completed prior to start
- COVID testing protocol on Day 1 of work (if required)
Notes
- All employment gaps over 90 days must be explained
- Complete and accurate work history including bed count, EMR, and facility type is mandatory for submission
- Reliable personal or rental vehicle strongly recommended due to lack of public transportation
This position is ideal for RRTs with at least 1 year of experience, teaching hospital background, and recent Epic EMR proficiency, seeking a flexible weekend travel contract in Vermont.
