Job Opportunity: Medical Laboratory - Histotechnologist (Day Shift)

Location: State College, Pennsylvania
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• 8-hour day shift, Monday through Friday
• Must be certified as a histotechnologist with ASCP or hold an equivalent certification
• Responsible for performing a variety of histological procedures on tissue specimens under supervision
• Key duties include:

  • Identification and processing of all tissue specimens in anatomic pathology
  • Assigning accession numbers and entering patient demographic information accurately
  • Assisting pathologists with gross examination and frozen section preparation
  • Operating tissue processors and preparing tissue cassettes
  • Cutting sections from embedded tissue blocks, staining, and delivering slides for microscopic examination
  • Performing special histochemical staining procedures within requested timeframes
  • Preparing slides or anatomical material for external laboratory consultation or processing
  • Filing and indexing tissue slides and blocks for storage and retrieval, ensuring proper retention and rotation of specimens

Requirements

• Certification as a histotechnologist (ASCP or equivalent)
• Experience in histological procedures and specimen processing
