Job Summary

Seeking an Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) for day shifts. This role involves providing perioperative nursing care in a general OR setting with a variety of surgical procedures.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of OR nursing experience required.
• Unit accepts first-time travelers (no prior travel experience required).

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) – Required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – Preferred
• Other certifications may be required as applicable:

  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
  • CHEMO (Chemotherapy)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB)
  • NIH Stroke Certification
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)

• Abdominal aortic aneurysm repair
• Carotid endarterectomy
• Laparoscopic-assisted cases
• Lobe resection
• Thoracotomy, VATS
• Radical neck dissection
• Tonsillectomy
• Bronchoscopy, colonoscopy, EGD
• PEG tube placement
• Scrub endoscopic surgery
• Cholecystectomy, colon resection, Whipple procedure
• Abdominal/vaginal hysterectomy, bilateral tubal ligation
• Anterior cervical fusion, craniotomy, laminectomy, lumbar fusion
• Cataract extraction, eye trauma, glaucoma surgery
• Open reduction of fractures, spinal fusion, total joint replacement
• Abdominoplasty, breast augmentation, mastectomy
• Ankle fusion, bunionectomy
• Robotic surgery
• Urology procedures

• Documentation system: EPIC

Travel Radius

• 50 mile traveler radius

Compliance & Onboarding Requirements

Background Checks & Verifications

• 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
• EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks required upon hire
• Education verification (highest level) required
• Work history verification for 7 years (NJ state requires minimum 1 year prior verified with limited gaps)

Licenses & Certifications Verification

• Primary source online verification of state license
• NURSYS verification for RN licenses

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
• Adult TDAP vaccine within 10 years
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
• TB questionnaire for positive TB results, renewed annually
• Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
• Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted
• Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented chickenpox history
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
• COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required

Competency Exams & Training

• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam (80% passing or Angoff score)
• Color blind testing (online)
• Competency exams as applicable (minimum 80% passing or Angoff score)
• Annual core testing for subcontractors
• Orientation safety manual acknowledgement and HIPAA compliance

• Prior travel experience is not required for this position.
