Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Telemetry
Location: Dayton, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in a mixed acuity unit caring for advanced care level patients, including those on advanced drips.
- Experience with advanced care/step down units preferred.
- Targeted patient ratios typically 1:4, but can be up to 1:5-6.
- Participate in team nursing or primary nursing models depending on unit needs.
- Must float to all Stepdown/Advanced Care units within the hospital system (including multiple campuses within ~15 miles).
- No holiday Return to Office (RTO) accepted; no more than 7 days of RTO approved.
- No local candidates accepted.
- Must be available to work every other weekend and holidays.
- No block schedules; 36 or 48-hour shifts accepted (OT paid after 48 hours).
- Must pass an online EKG Telemetry competency assessment prior to starting.
Requirements
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a large hospital setting.
- Level 1 experience preferred; will accept Level 2 experience.
- 1.5 years experience with some level 1 or 2 preferred (higher requirement is 2 years).
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required.
- NIH Stroke Certification required or willingness to obtain.
- Skills:
- Must be able to read and interpret EKG strips.
- Must float to various units as assigned.
- Other:
- Travel experience preferred (prior travel experience not explicitly required).
- Nurses will be fitted for N95 masks prior to working on the HRRU unit unless PAPR is needed/offered.
- Medical exemptions will not be accepted for this contract.
Additional Information
- Must submit required documentation including:
- I-9, Government Issued Photo ID, E-Verify, Proof of Name Change (if applicable), Residency Declaration Form (if using Compact Nursing license).
- Background checks including 7-year criminal background, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG.
- Education verification (Primary Source Verified).
- Drug testing within 72 hours of contract signing and negative 9 or 10 panel drug screen within 12 months.
- Physical exam within 2 years indicating fitness to work.
- Immunizations and health documents including TB test, flu vaccination (or approved exemption), Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella, and others as applicable.
- Competency exams including Medication/Pharmacology, Dysrhythmia/EKG (must pass within 3 attempts), and unit-specific competency exams.
- References: 2 professional references within 2 years, including 1 manager/supervisor/charge RN.
- Skills checklist updated within 1 year.
Summary
This is a 13-week travel contract for a Registered Nurse with at least 2 years of hospital experience, preferably in level 1 or 2 care, to work in a telemetry mixed acuity unit in Dayton, Ohio. The role requires flexibility to float across stepdown and advanced care units, strong EKG interpretation skills, and current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke certifications. Travel experience is preferred but not mandatory. Candidates must be able to work every other weekend and holidays, pass required competency exams, and meet all health and background documentation requirements.
