Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS Tele RN Nights)
Location: Orangeburg, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Medical-Surgical Telemetry (MS/Tele)
- Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM)
- Patient Ratio: 1:5
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call: No
- Floating: Yes, within scope to meet facility needs
Experience & Licensure Requirements
- Years of Experience Required: 2 years in MS/Telemetry, including telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
- First-time Travelers: Accepted
- License: South Carolina RN license or Compact license must be active prior to start
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certification only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only, required for adult critical care and MS/Tele units
- NIH Stroke Certification
- Preferred Experience: Community hospital experience
Facility & Work Environment
- Type: Acute Care Hospital
- Total Staffed Beds: 286
- Charting System: Epic
- Parking: No cost
- Hurricane Season: June through November; travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during this time
Scheduling & Hours
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Block schedule accommodation possible with prior approval
- Local candidates accepted
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Background Checks:
- Annual background check covering last 7 years, including SSN trace, state and national criminal checks, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, and international searches if applicable
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Education Verification: Required, diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder if needed
- Licensure Verification: Primary source verification required; must be active, unencumbered, and no pending actions
- NURSYS Verification: Required for all RNs
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Physical Exam: Initial and annual physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands
- Immunizations & Health Requirements:
- Tdap within 10 years or declination form
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or proof of prior positive with chest x-ray
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titers or vaccination series required; boosters accepted if low titer
- Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination required
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30) or medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
- COVID-19 vaccines highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
- Respirator Clearance: Annual medical clearance required for patient-facing staff
- Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo with solid light background, business casual attire, no hats or sunglasses
Competency & Testing
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required
- Color blindness testing required prior to start
- Competency exams required, with pediatric OR competency preferred if applicable
Additional Notes
- Travelers must complete orientation modules prior to start; failure to complete results in being sent home
- Facility-specific documents and first day instructions will be provided after clearance
- Radiation badge required only for specific departments (not applicable for this role)
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
