Job Opportunity: Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA)

Location: Harrisonville, Missouri
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Provide rehabilitative, skilled, and medically necessary treatment interventions to patients with cognitive and/or physical functioning disorders under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist.
• Utilize evidence-based practices to support clinical interventions.
• Administer procedures including ADL retraining, therapeutic activities, therapeutic exercises, modalities, and use of supportive and assistive devices.
• Assess patient progress and communicate with supervising Occupational Therapist to adjust treatments accordingly.
• Report treatment effectiveness and provide consultation to patients, families, caregivers, and other service providers.
• Document all required clinical and regulatory information accurately in electronic systems.
• Participate in patient care conferences, utilization review meetings, rehabilitation meetings, and required trainings.
• Support and supervise students under the guidance of the Occupational Therapist.
• Adhere to NBCOT, AOTA, and State practice acts, codes of conduct, and ethics.
• Maintain active state licensure/registration as applicable.

Requirements

• Specialty: Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA)
• Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year OTA experience (higher value from description)
• Experience Type: Long Term Care (LTC) or Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) experience required
• Licensure: Valid OTA license required
• New Graduates: Accepted if Level II experience is completed (not just Level I observation)
• Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

• Productivity expectations:

  • Evaluating therapists: 88-90% productivity
  • Assistants: 90-93% productivity
• Typical treatment times:

  • PT/OT: ~1 hour for Medicare B, 30-35 minutes for Medicare A and Managed Care
  • SLP: Typically 30 minutes
• Caseload: 7-12 patients per day for OT/PT assistants, fewer for evaluating therapists with evaluations
• Group therapy is allowed and encouraged to help with productivity
• Therapists typically have dedicated devices for documentation
