Job Opportunity: RRT-NICU (Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics)

Location: Richland, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Position floats between units internally; flexibility required.
  • Weekends required every other weekend per Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
  • No on-call required.
  • Variable patient ratios depending on campus census.
  • Minimum Level 2 NICU and Adult ICU experience required.
  • 2 years of specialty experience preferred; 1st timers are also considered.

Required Experience

  • Specialty: Respiratory Therapy (RRT) with NICU focus.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in specialty (Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics).
  • Prior travel experience not explicitly required.

Certifications Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification.
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification.
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Current certification from AAP, AHA, or Canadian Paediatric Society.
  • State Professional License (Respiratory Therapist license valid in Washington).
  • Other certifications may be required based on clinical track and unit.

Compliance & Background Requirements

  • Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years.
  • Education verification required.
  • Drug screening (10 panel) within 90 days of start.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • TDAP (within 10 years or declination)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Flu vaccine during flu season or declination
    • COVID vaccine or declination
  • Respirator clearance (RespSafety) required annually for travel candidates.
  • Fit mask testing required annually (onsite or valid record).

Scheduling & Work Details

  • Floating between departments within the facility is expected.
  • Weekends every other weekend required.
  • No block schedules or on-call duties.

Additional Requirements

  • References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty within the last 3 years.
  • Employment application covering at least last 5 years.
  • Skills checklist updated annually as applicable.
  • Completion of required WorkRamp training modules prior to start, including:
    • Annual regulatory requirements
    • Specialty-specific modules for Respiratory Therapy and NICU
    • Facility-specific modules as assigned
  • Badge photo required for facility access.

Notes

  • Must have flexibility to float between NICU and Adult ICU units.
  • No 48-hour approval for overtime.
  • Candidate must be able to work in Washington state and comply with all state-specific background and licensing requirements.
