Job Opportunity: Radiation Therapist

Location: State College, Pennsylvania

Job Summary

  • Administer radiation therapy using Varian Linear Accelerator (True Beam)
  • Document treatments in Meditech and Aria systems

Education & Certification Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved school of Radiation Therapy
  • Current registration as a Radiation Therapist (RTT) with the ARRT(T)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification meeting American Heart Association standards, renewed every two years

Key Responsibilities

  • Verify diagnosis, prescription, patient chart, and patient identification
  • Explain treatment plans and communication procedures to patients
  • Prepare treatment room and equipment according to prescription, including immobilization devices and treatment parameters
  • Observe radiation safety measures for patients and staff
  • Maintain communication with patients during treatment
  • Operate and perform CT simulation procedures and equipment
  • Perform patient timeouts as per department policy
  • Monitor treatment area for skin changes and side effects; notify physician as needed
  • Assist with ordering supplies and maintain complete records
  • Comply with quality improvement initiatives and departmental policies
  • Maintain patient markings and perform scheduling and clerical duties
  • Conduct safety checks on equipment and report any issues
