Description

Job Opportunity: RN - Oncology (Travel)

Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Unit: K9A - Oncology/Women’s Surgical
Facility Type: Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, Level III neonatal ICU, pediatric hospital with subspecialists, busiest robotic surgery program in the Carolinas, open heart and interventional cardiology services.


Contract Details

  • Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

  • Number of Beds: 24
  • Staffing:
    • Day Shift: 1 CNC, 4-6 RNs, 2 CNAs, 1 HUC
    • Night Shift: 1 CNC, 4-6 RNs, 2 CNAs
  • Patient Ratios: 1:4 or 1:5
  • Equipment: Standard unit equipment
  • EMR System: Cerner

Job Requirements

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) in Oncology/Women’s Surgical
  • Required Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • Licenses:
    • Registered Nurse License (RN)
  • Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Chemo Certification (preferred but not required)

Typical Procedures on Unit

  • Occasional pelvic exams
  • Echocardiogram (Echo)
  • Thoracentesis

Work Environment & Culture

  • Team players who are willing to learn
  • Dress Code:
    • RNs: Navy, white, or combination of both
    • CNAs: Galaxy Blue
  • Floating: Rare, may float to other med-surg units
  • Call: Rare call, but staff required to work 6 weekend days per schedule

Summary

This travel RN position in Oncology/Women’s Surgical offers the opportunity to work in a highly recognized hospital with advanced specialty services. The role requires at least 2 years of oncology nursing experience, BLS certification, and an active RN license. The unit maintains a supportive team environment with standard patient ratios and occasional specialized procedures. Prior travel experience is not required.
