Job Opportunity: Special Procedures Tech - Radiology

Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Specialty

  • Role: Special Procedures Tech (Interventional Radiology Tech)
  • Required Experience: Minimum 2 years in Interventional Radiology or related specialty (higher value taken)
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Job Description & Unit Information

  • Work in Interventional Radiology (IR) department
  • Unit has 2 single plane (GE) and 2 biplane (Philips) rooms, plus one invasive CT scanner
  • Staff includes 15 techs, manager, Data/Quality Analyst, and nursing support
  • Day Shift: 2 techs + 1 nurse per room
  • Night Shift: 1 tech + 1 RN onsite
  • Patient ratio: 1:1
  • EMR system: Cerner (Radnet)

Required Skills & Experience

  • Previous Interventional Radiology experience (scrub and circulate) mandatory
  • Previous neurointerventional Radiology experience (scrub and circulate) mandatory
  • Preferred (nice to have):
    • Vascular OR experience
    • Cath Lab experience
    • VI Registered List procedures familiarity

Typical Procedures Performed

  • Dialysis work (Permcaths, fistulagrams)
  • Nephrostomy tubes
  • Arteriograms/embolizations
  • Y-90 treatments
  • G-tubes
  • TIPS (Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunt)
  • Inari cases
  • Cerebral arteriograms, coilings, pipelines
  • Mechanical thrombectomies
  • Vertebroplasties

Certifications Required

  • ARRT Certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)

Work Schedule & Environment

  • Every 7th weekend required
  • One night secondary call during the week
  • Scrub color/attire provided by hospital
  • Floating area: Vascular OR
  • Personality fit: Flexible, great team player

This position offers the opportunity to work in a high-acuity, technologically advanced Interventional Radiology unit within a well-recognized hospital system.
