Description

Job Opportunity: RN - ICU (Travel)

Location: Denver, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Unit Information

  • Unit: ICU
  • Number of Beds: 21
  • Number of Staff: 45
  • Shift Staffing:
    • Day Shift: 1 Charge Nurse (no patient assignment), 6-8 nurses
    • Night Shift: Similar staffing as day
  • Patient Ratios:
    • Standard ICU: 2:1 nurse to patient
    • Step-down status: 3:1
    • Very high acuity: 1:1
  • Equipment: Hospira IV pumps
  • EMR System: Meditech
  • Additional Unit Info:
    • Small community hospital
    • Mostly elective patients
    • Magnet designated
    • Intensivist coverage 24/7 in ICU

Required Skills & Experience

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse in ICU
  • Years of Experience Required: 2 years
  • Certifications Required:
    • ACLS
    • BLS
    • NIH Certification
  • Licenses: Registered Nurse License
  • Must Have Skills:
    • Vasopressor IV drip titration
    • Ventilator management
    • Care of sepsis, arrhythmias, and med/surg critical care patients
  • Preferred Skills:
    • Cardiac experience
    • Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)

Typical Procedures Performed

  • Intubation
  • Central line insertion
  • Bronchoscopy
  • Endoscopy

Work Schedule & Environment

  • Required to work every 3rd weekend
  • Required to work one major winter holiday
  • Self-scheduling
  • Float to Telemetry and other hospitals within the system
  • Team-oriented environment with a good sense of humor valued
