Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ER)

Location: Winston Salem, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse for a travel contract position in the Emergency Room. The unit serves as a regional referral and tertiary care center with approximately 101 beds and 250 visits per day.


Requirements

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required.
  • Prior travel experience not required; first-time travelers are accepted.

Certifications (Required)

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BCLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • MOAB (Crisis Prevention Institute - required for ER and Behavioral Health nurses)

Preferred Certifications

  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)

Work Details

  • Shift: 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
  • Hours: 36 hours per week offered
  • Patient Ratios: 1 nurse to 3-5 patients
  • Floating: Required between Emergency Observation Unit and Emergency Behavioral Health based on need
  • Weekend Requirement: Minimum 4 weekend days per 6-week period, possibly every other weekend
  • Orientation: 24 hours
  • Dress Code: Navy/White scrubs

Additional Requirements

  • Must pass EKG competency testing prior to start
  • Floating between units as needed
  • Compliance with various background checks, health screenings, and facility-specific training modules
  • Required health documents include negative TB test or chest X-ray, immunizations (Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella), drug testing, and flu vaccination or approved exemption
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation and safety training
  • Photo for badge required prior to start

Patient Population

  • Diverse patient population served at a regional referral and tertiary care center

Notes

  • No Return to Office (RTO) after booking allowed; call-offs or additional RTO may result in cancellation
  • Candidates must complete required competency exams and certifications as outlined
  • Floating and weekend coverage are mandatory components of the role

This position is ideal for nurses with at least 2 years of experience who are comfortable working night shifts in a fast-paced emergency setting and are willing to float between related units. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
