Job Opportunity: CVOR Tech
Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks (Backfill position, ASAP start)
Job Description
- Assigned to Surgical Services, specifically Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
- Shift: Day, 12-hour shifts (6:15 AM - 6:45 PM)
- Unit may assign you to an "Emergency Team" during events, requiring you to stay until the event passes or be part of relief
- On-call requirement
- Unit does not accept first-time travelers; prior travel experience is required
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Surgical Services required (highest years of experience specified)
- Must be proficient in all aspects of Cardiovascular (CV) and Vascular cases
- Experience working in a CVOR is mandatory
- Additional proficiency required in general surgery, kidney transplant, and robotics cases when CVOR volume is low
Requirements & Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum 3 years in Surgical Services specialty
- Prior travel experience required (unit does not accept first-time travelers)
Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit specifics; confirm with program management if unclear
Licensure
- Active Louisiana state license or Compact license required upon submission
- License must be current or in the process of renewal before start date
Background & Compliance
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start, updated monthly
- Education verification of highest level required
- Sex offender search required within 30 days of start, updated monthly
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (instant screens not accepted)
- Physical exam within 12 months indicating good health
- Fit mask testing (N95) within one year of start; onsite fit testing available if needed
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (for select units)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or completed vaccine series)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer, vaccine series, or booster)
- Varicella (positive titer or vaccine series)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season (Oct-Apr)
Additional Requirements
- Current/valid Driver’s License or government photo ID (color copy)
- Skills checklist and competency exam specific to specialty, updated annually
- Resume/application with 7 years employment history and explanation for gaps
- Photo for badge (passport-style, recent, color)
Important Notes
- Candidates must be comfortable with emergency team assignments during events
- This is a backfill contract for approximately 12 weeks
- Prior travel experience is mandatory; first-time travelers will not be accepted
