Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ER Holding)

Location: Largo, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (19:30 - 08:00)
  • Schedule: Every other weekend required; holidays as scheduled
  • Patient Care Setting: Fast-paced, high volume ER/Medical-Surgical/Telemetry/Intermediate Care Unit border role
  • Patient Ratio: 1:6
  • Average Daily Census: 10 to 40 patients
  • Number of Rooms: 46
  • Floating: Required between ED borders, extenders to MS/T, IMC units within specialty and scope
  • On-Call: No pre-scheduled call shifts required

Experience & Licensure Requirements

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (ER Holding)
  • Required Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not required; first-time travelers accepted
  • Licenses/Certifications:
    • Maryland RN State License
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)

Patient Population & Work Environment

  • Wide variety of complex ED admission diagnoses
  • Border role involving care across ER, MS/T, and IMC units
  • Fast-paced and high volume environment

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID
  • I9 or attestation
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and state-specific exclusions
  • Drug screening (9-panel, negative result within 30 days prior to start)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • TB testing (negative QGOLD/TSPOT or 2-step PPD)
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (positive titer or 2 vaccines/boosters)
    • Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination)
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (if applicable)
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved exemption (2025-26 season)
  • COVID vaccination not required for this location but documentation collected for tracking
  • Two supervisory references within 1 year of start
  • Employment application/resume within 30 days of start
  • Work history verification for previous 5 years

Competency Requirements

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (score 80%+)
  • Color Blind Testing
  • Competency Exam (score 80%+)
  • Age Specific Competency Exam (score 80%+)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (score 80%)

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must sign job description and confidentiality agreement prior to start
  • Badge photo required (passport style with solid background)
  • Portfolio Epic Training Test Out form may be applicable
  • Floating and holiday work required as scheduled

This position offers a challenging and dynamic environment suitable for RNs with at least 2 years of experience in emergency or related specialties, who are comfortable working nights and in a fast-paced setting. Prior travel experience is not required.
