Job Opportunity: CVICU Registered Nurse (Nights)
Location: Great Falls, Montana
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Provide care in a 10-bed Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) focused on immediate post-operative open heart patients.
- Care for hemodynamically stable or predictably unstable cardiac medical surgical patients.
- Patient populations include pediatrics, pre/post PCI care, pacemaker, revascularization, carotid endarterectomy, thoracotomy, CHF, COPD, DKA, renal failure, DVT, PE, sepsis, and various surgical cases.
- Operate advanced medical equipment such as central lines, chest tubes, nasogastric tubes, continuous bladder irrigation, arterial lines, multiple IVs, and short-term ventilation support.
- Provide direct patient care from admission to discharge, including discharge planning.
- Act as a clinical leader and assist with precepting staff.
Required Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent, plus degree from an accredited nursing program.
- Experience: Recent Critical Care experience required, with preference for CVICU and open heart recovery nursing.
- Licensure/Certification:
- Current Montana RN license
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- Skills:
- Proficient with advanced medical equipment including A-lines, invasive lines, chest tubes, ventilatory support, cardiac telemetry, and EKG interpretation.
- Ability to assess and implement policies with minimal supervision.
Additional Information
- Work collaboratively with providers, charge nurses, ICU director, and healthcare team members.
- Leadership responsibilities include giving direction to LPNs, CNAs, and support staff.
Specialty Experience Requirement
- Minimum of Recent Critical Care experience (implied at least 1 year or equivalent recent experience in CVICU or open heart recovery).
