Job Opportunity: CVICU Registered Nurse (Nights)

Location: Great Falls, Montana
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Overview

• Provide care in a 10-bed Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) focused on immediate post-operative open heart patients.
• Care for hemodynamically stable or predictably unstable cardiac medical surgical patients.
• Patient populations include pediatrics, pre/post PCI care, pacemaker, revascularization, carotid endarterectomy, thoracotomy, CHF, COPD, DKA, renal failure, DVT, PE, sepsis, and various surgical cases.
• Operate advanced medical equipment such as central lines, chest tubes, nasogastric tubes, continuous bladder irrigation, arterial lines, multiple IVs, and short-term ventilation support.
• Provide direct patient care from admission to discharge, including discharge planning.
• Act as a clinical leader and assist with precepting staff.

Required Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent, plus degree from an accredited nursing program.
• Experience: Recent Critical Care experience required, with preference for CVICU and open heart recovery nursing.
• Licensure/Certification:

  • Current Montana RN license
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• Skills:

  • Proficient with advanced medical equipment including A-lines, invasive lines, chest tubes, ventilatory support, cardiac telemetry, and EKG interpretation.
  • Ability to assess and implement policies with minimal supervision.

Additional Information

• Work collaboratively with providers, charge nurses, ICU director, and healthcare team members.
• Leadership responsibilities include giving direction to LPNs, CNAs, and support staff.

Specialty Experience Requirement

• Minimum of Recent Critical Care experience (implied at least 1 year or equivalent recent experience in CVICU or open heart recovery).
