Job Opportunity: Radiology Tech (Nights)

Location: State College, Pennsylvania
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Prepare patients for diagnostic imaging examinations
  • Explain procedures and respond to patient questions
  • Perform diagnostic radiological procedures as ordered by physicians

Required Qualifications

Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a specialized training program in Radiological Technology approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of experience performing radiological procedures in a hospital, clinic, or physician’s office preferred

Licenses/Certifications

  • Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Radiology required
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers, with renewal every two years

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
  • Familiarity with radiologic equipment, procedures, and radiation safety (ALARA standards)
  • Ability to communicate clearly and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to troubleshoot and adjust radiologic equipment
  • Ability to use CR, Fluoro, and DR imaging equipment safely and efficiently
  • Ability to prepare and administer IV and oral contrast media and manage contrast reactions
  • Competence in patient positioning, image transfer to PACS, and documentation
  • Ability to maintain sterile technique during procedures in operating room and radiology department
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to work collaboratively with patients and staff

Essential Job Functions

  • Perform patient care and technical duties accurately and timely
  • Verify patient identity using two identifiers (Name and Date of Birth)
  • Assist Radiologists and Fluoro Techs during special procedures
  • Operate portable radiographic equipment in various hospital departments
  • Maintain clean and orderly work areas
  • Perform clerical duties related to workflow monitoring and quality assurance
  • Explain policies and procedures to radiology students as needed
