Description
Job Opportunity: MS/Tele Float Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Float RN position covering Medical-Surgical (MS), Intermediate Care (IMC), and Emergency Department (ED) Boarder units as needed.
- Float to ED to care for border patients and/or inpatient units.
- Shift options: 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts (1900-0730).
- Experience required in MS/Telemetry and Cardiac Telemetry.
- ER holding experience required.
- Every 3rd weekend required.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse license valid in Maryland.
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience.
- Prior travel experience required.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA or ARC).
- Must pass Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with:
- Minimum overall score of 80%
- 100% score on lethal rhythms section
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) & NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certifications preferred.
Additional Requirements
- Must complete facility-specific modules prior to start.
- Criminal background check within 90 days, including multi-state searches.
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana).
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease.
- Immunization and health documentation required:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year, updated annually)
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred
- Documentation of MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) and Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
- N95 fit test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed).
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years.
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license verification.
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam and Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 3 years of start, with minimum passing scores.
Work Environment
- Float between MS, MS/Tele, IMC, and ED Boarder units.
- Fast-paced hospital setting requiring flexibility and strong clinical skills.
Summary
This travel RN position requires a minimum of 2 years nursing experience with prior travel experience, strong telemetry and ER holding skills, and certifications including ACLS and BLS. Candidates must pass a rigorous EKG competency exam and be willing to float across multiple units with weekend shifts every third week. Compliance with extensive health, background, and competency documentation is mandatory.
