Description

Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Monticello, Minnesota
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Position: Labor & Delivery RN
  • Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (1900-0730), including every third weekend
  • Unit: 6 Bed LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum)
  • Patient Care Areas: Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, Triage, Antepartum, Normal Newborn, Special Care Nursery Infants (including Infant IV starts and management, High Flow Oxygen)
  • Patient Diagnoses: Gestation 36 weeks or higher

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience
  • Certifications:
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
    • AWHONN Intermediate
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM)
  • Additional Experience: Newborn nursery experience required
  • License: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Minnesota
  • Residence: Traveler’s primary residence must be more than 50 miles from the facility

Required Background and Compliance

  • Criminal background check within 1 year of start (including multi-level searches)
  • Education verification (diploma acceptable with proof of verification attempts)
  • MN DHS Net Study Fingerprint clearance required prior to start (no pending fingerprints allowed)
  • Drug testing (9 panel) within 1 year of start
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Immunizations and health screenings:
    • Tdap vaccination required (no religious declinations accepted)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per MN state guidelines
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) proof of immunity or vaccination
    • Hepatitis B vaccination, positive titer, or declination
    • Varicella immunity or vaccination
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination (mask required if declined)

Competencies and Exams

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required annually, except NICU RNs)
  • Competency exams as applicable by profession (annual update required)

Additional Information

  • Candidates must complete a Minnesota DHS Net Study Questionnaire immediately after signing contract to initiate fingerprinting process
  • Dress code must be reviewed prior to start
  • Education modules will be completed during orientation (average 16 hours)
  • Candidates must provide a professional photo for badge issuance
  • Confidentiality agreement must be signed prior to start
  • Candidates must return badges on last day of assignment

This position offers an opportunity to work in a specialized Labor & Delivery setting with a focus on comprehensive maternal and newborn care. The role requires strong clinical skills, relevant certifications, and compliance with Minnesota state healthcare regulations.
