Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (PCU) - Travel/Contract

Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (PCU - Progressive Care Unit)
  • Shift: Nights, 3x12 hour shifts (7 PM - 7 AM)
  • Schedule: Up to every other weekend; staff asked to sign up for 5 weekend shifts every 6 weeks
  • Floating: May be required to float between all campuses within the health system
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty (PCU/Cardiac Telemetry)
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not required; first-time travelers are welcome

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • Pass/Fail EKG/Dysrhythmia Exam (must pass with minimum 82%)
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., NIH Stroke Certification for Cardiac Progressive Care)

Required Skills and Experience

  • Cardiac Telemetry and Progressive Care Unit experience required
  • Experience with rapid response teams
  • Care for cardiac patients including:
    • Acute coronary syndrome
    • Pre and post cardiac catheterization (with and without intervention)
    • Post myocardial infarction care
    • Arrhythmias, syncope, chest pain, STEMI/NSTEMI
    • New onset and chronic atrial fibrillation, Tikosyn loading
    • EP lab care for pacemaker and ICD placement
    • Secondary population: new onset and chronic heart failure
  • Experience with:
    • TR Bands
    • Central lines, PICC lines, CVP monitoring
    • EPIC electronic health record system

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
  • Social Security Card (for badge issuance)
  • Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • Education verification (Associate’s degree in nursing or higher required)
  • Transcript/Diploma as applicable
  • Foreign equivalency evaluation if education obtained outside the U.S.
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
  • Immunizations and health documents including:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
    • TB test (Qgold/TSPOT within 6 months) and TB questionnaire
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) proof or titers
    • Varicella proof or titers
    • Hepatitis B titer or declination
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption (required by October 20)
  • Fit mask test (N95) completed within current calendar year and updated annually
  • Physical exam (if applicable)
  • Employment application/resume with 7-year work history
  • Work history verification for last 5 years
  • Two supervisory references (clinical positions)

Additional Notes

  • Zero tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
  • Candidates must complete a mandatory questionnaire prior to offer
  • Candidates must review and sign facility-specific policies including floating policy and contractor equipment acknowledgment
  • Badge photo must meet strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire)
  • Fingerprinting required only for Home Health and Long-Term Care positions (not applicable here)
  • EPIC test required for RNs, with 2 attempts allowed to pass; additional attempts may be granted onsite at manager’s discretion
