Job Opportunity: Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) - Operating Room (Days)

Job Description

• Prepare the surgical suite by assisting the surgical technologist and registered nurse with gathering equipment, instruments, and supplies.
• Ensure all supplies and equipment are available and in working condition for procedures.
• Assist the surgeon intraoperatively by providing exposure, aiding in hemostasis, closure, and other technical functions to ensure safe and effective operations.
• Perform tasks such as draping, retracting, suctioning, sponging, suturing, tissue handling, cautery techniques, and applying appropriate dressing materials.
• Work collaboratively within the operating room team concept.
• May work as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) when First Assist duties are not needed.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of experience as a Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA).
• Active certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or American Board of Surgical Assistants (ABSA).
• Active American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Work history and skills checklist relevant to Certified Surgical First Assist updated within the last year.
• Two supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years.

Additional Information

• Prior travel assignment history is preferred but not required.
• Candidates must be located outside a 50-mile radius of the facility (local candidates will not be considered).
• Electronic Medical Record system used: Epic.
• Dress code: Hospital-provided scrubs.

This position offers an opportunity to work in a 139 licensed-bed hospital located in northeast Michigan on the shores of Lake Huron.
